KNEELERS FOR EMPSHOTT CHURCH
An exciting new project which will create something special for our church.

After many years of thinking and talking about it, we are going to replace the worn out kneelers with tapestry ones using unique designs based on details from the church - floor tiles, woodwork, stained glass etc.
So far we have put 3 designs onto canvas and have 18 stitchers.   There are approximately 50 kneelers in the church so we are looking for help with this on-going project - financial and practical.  Each kneeler will cost approximately £50 once made up so we will need funding (see below for details of a flower festival we are holding at the end of June) and more volunteer stitchers would be welcome.

Empshott Flower Festival - 26th and 27th June 2010

On the hottest weekend of the year so far, almost 300 people were happy to step into the cool of Holy Rood Church in Empshott to see a magnificent display of flowers.

The flower festival, "A Tapestry of Flowers", was staged to raise funds for a project to replace old, worn-out kneelers with new tapestry ones, using unique designs based on floor tiles, woodwork and stained glass windows in the church.  Visitors were enchanted by the sight and scents of thirty beautiful arrangements based on a tapestry theme, including a display of kneelers crafted from foliage.  Three new tapestry kneelers were also on show.

We raised £1500 over the weekend.  Thanks to the generosity of the visitors, who also enjoyed tea, home-made cakes and a barbeque, the project now has enough funds to continue.
